Windows Vista Problem

Hi
I have a problem with a windows vista compaq laptop, its not allowing vista to boot, it keeps going to start up repair, which fails all the time as well, and the cycle keeps going around and around,  :banghead:
I have tried setting the laptop to manafactures default settings but it will refuses to boot,
any information would be helpful

do you have a vista or win 7 disc? if you do, boot up the PC with the DVD, click next when u get the install screen and lick repair computer, select ur vista partition and click startup repair
