The actual model # might help, but one of my told me hold down power button for 8 to 10 s should send (most) into reboot that resets password to factory..

Turn off your device, and do these steps. Press this button combination, that will lead you to recovery menu. power button + vol up. choose "factory reset " Power button + vol up button or power + vol down button to select recovery menu.

Factory Reset also removes all the DATA he only needs to RESET the PASSWORD to Factory settings then he has DATA Access.

which is much easier... and seems that several million have password reset since they forget... (no idea why someone would forget a password)

I reset my Android devices several times a year, my Win 8.1 phone, more often.  If you have set up a Google account with IMAPI, then there are no worries!  You are always backed up.  Your device has a memory card?  Remove it when resetting to be safe.

Seems pretty straight forward. my Buddy simply said.

hold down power button for 8 to 10 s should send (most) into reboot that resets password to factory

when it reboot you should know... I ask again and that is same thing he said...
