WHY? Just turn it off in its options and just use the search. Cortana on or off is linked to so much you might be getting rid of it all.

Is it possible to get rid of Cortana?

YES, several ways.

you can simply disable

or

you can regedit her out.

I disabled on the START and have never been bothered since.

  1. Open Cortana from the taskbar.
  2. Click the hamburger icon in the top left and pick the Settings item inside the menu
  3. Toggle the switch that says "Do you want Cortana to work for you?" to "Off"

  1. Right click on the task bar.
  2. Select the "Search" option.
  3. You'll now see three new options for what to do. To make it go away altogether hit "Hidden."
  4. If you still want to keep it but want more space on the task bar, select "Show search icon" and the box will be replaced by a little magnifying glass icon.
  5. To make it all come back again follow the same steps but hit the option to enable the search box.

I'll give him me Cortana from this laptop. She can't  stay awake so he wouldn't even know it was there unless he looked.

Is it possible to get rid of Cortana?

YES, and about anything else you want to REMOVE.

takes about 30 min to make a removed install.wim so that only what you want is there.

they do have a GUI Script that pretty good, do all it claims but the ISO it makes suks.

but the install.wim and boot.wim inserts easy into the original.

the instruction are almost proper but missing some (so you have to READ) the missing lines,

I would go with disable her as you can uninstall (this is totally different but it will kill normal searching with the search bar and search in start menu). If you still want to here you go....

Warning You can not reinstall her once she is gone with out doing a restore or an upgrade! Normal windows search is dead doing this..... If you use a 3rd party startmenu and search app your good.

-------------------

1) DL the uninstaller by Winaero, http://winaero.com/request.php?1832

2) Extract the files

3) Run the "uninstall cortana.cmd" as admin

4) Wait for it to finish this can take a bit

5) reboot, now no more cortana
