Last week came the warning, now comes the roll out. The most criticised aspect of Windows 10 is coming to Windows 7 and Windows 8 after Microsoft released upgrades which enable the company to extensively track what users are doing. The releases bring good and bad news…

The Bad News

The three updates in question – KB3075249, KB3080149 and KB3068708 (which replaces KB3022345) – all add “customer experience and diagnostic telemetry” to Windows 7 and Windows 8. This is shorthand for monitoring how you use Windows and sending that data back to Microsoft HQ for evaluation.

Worse still software specialist site gHacks, which first discovered the tracking, notes these updates will ignore any previous user preferences:

“These four updates ignore existing user preferences stored in Windows 7 and Windows 8 (including any edits made to the Hosts file) and immediately starts exchanging user data with vortex-win.data.microsoft.com and settings-win.data.microsoft.com.”

You might want to re-evaluate that bud. I used OO as well but if you run it again you will see at least one of the 3 telemetry options back enabled lol.

Well, THIS CUSTOMER is experiencing a big F-ing headache running 4 Windows OSes on one machine & keeping images current with all the telemetry crapola not or uninstalled.   :banghead:  Of course, it would be a little better if I'd stop banging my head against the wall.  :histerija:

These telemetries could be only Beta OS.

Then do as I do, and don't worry.  I just install, customize the UI, and let Windows be happy.  I am happy, too!

You can just install and be happy the majority are not happy about windows 10 and privacy and now they are doing it to windows 7and 8/8.1 M$ is making a very big mistake this news is not good for the company but the stupid shits don't seem to get it why would we want to share are keystrokes with MS last I knew that was called a keylogger I suppose most will just ignore this with their heads buried in the sand so be it I am not one of those. :histerija: :histerija: :histerija: ;)

I hate to say it but it is proven that M% is using Telemetry for all users. If it was truly a beta improvement program it would only be present in insider preview builds of windows 10 and certainly not in win7 or win8.1.

Most people don't care at all.  No one I know that has Windows 10 does.  I just hear praise, and accolades from the common folk.  The only places where people talk about telemetry are on forums.

That's typically how it is with ALL MATTERS. Those that are ignorant of a issue don't care, and those in-the-know do care.  ;)
