Didja try installing the old DirectX runtimes for older games?

DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime web setup

https://www.microsof...s.aspx?id=34429

Also you might try launching the game in Compatibility Mode by right clicking on the game icon, select Properties > Compatibility tab > check Run this Program in Compatibility mode for: and select Windows 7 from the dropdown > Apply & OK, then give'er another go.

I will try the older directx

win 10 has a compatibility troubleshooter also tried that hasnt helped

when i change the settings to run in less color and smaller screen size it flickers like it might be starting but then it just goes back to normal screen and nothing

I have the DirectX 9c package of 98.1 Mb & it installs the missing files just fine on Windows 10 & a requirement for many older games to even launch or you'll get .dll files missing errors. You must be having problems with the web installer from M$.

I was hoping someone that has the Harry Potter games would chime in, but I guess it's not that popular with our members. Good luck.

I don't have them either (not sure they are old enough to use lol)  but I just run the real old game through DOS box emulator and they run fine. I have old school, Doom, Tomb Raider and some other that run though that and it works fine in 10.
