After 4 years of (ab)use,my Galaxy Note II unexpectedly died.......it was fine thursday evening b4 I went to bed, but  it was stuck on boot when I woke up friday morning.

I tried every trick I found on the net ,to no avail..... it seems that the EMMC chip needs a replacement, and that's out of my capabilities range.... ;)

So,instead of wasting my (limited  ) free time any further,I decided to buy a new 1.....normally,it will be delivered by monday :

http://www.ztedevice...rt-phone/AXON-7

1st i wanted to buy a OnePlus 3,but the delivery date was a bit uncertain,so I decided to go for the ZTE Axon 7..... :occasion14:

But the point I wanna make,is that most of us are so hooked on their consumer electronics that we get withdrawal symptoms shortly after they die and that we immediatly go searching for a replacement....

THX bud ! :occasion14:

There are several devices around with even better specs, but most of those have a heftier pricetag......

The main reasons why I bought this 1,is that the OnePlus3 had a much longer estimated delivery time here, that the Axon 7 has EXCELLENT audio and that 1 of it's next updates will support Google's Daydream virtual reality device when it's released.

I dunno if I will ever use that option, but it's always nice to have it supported when you need/want it.....

For around $200,a Motorola Moto G4 is hard to beat...if you wanna spend more, let's say up to $ 300,there's a chance you can buy 1 of last year's flagships, this will give you value for money IMHO......like,for example,LG's Nexus 5X can be had for less than $300 ATM.

Seems to have nice specs ! :occasion14:

What's the US pricetag?

Runs Android Nougat 7.0
The LG V20 includes a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of memory, 64GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for additional storage. The V20 is also the first smartphone that will be preloaded and ship with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, according to LG. Android Nougat incorporates improvements such as split-window multitasking, streamlined notifications and improved battery life

When LG announced in August that it's latest flagship smartphone, the LG V20, would be the first on the market to be preloaded with the Android Nougat 7.0 operating system, the company publicly revealed no other details about the upcoming phone. That changed recently, when AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon announced plans to bring the new handset to their customers and released its specs and features. The LG V20 is now available for preorder from AT&T; those preorders are set to ship Oct. 24 to 27, and in-store availability will begin Oct. 28. Sprint will begin taking preorders Oct. 21, and availability is set for Oct. 28. T-Mobile announced that it will offer the phone starting Oct. 28, while Verizon says it will also sell the new V20 but has not announced preorder or availability dates. The V20, priced at $829.99 from AT&T, is a 4G LTE handset with a 5.7-inch display, a 2.05-inch always-on secondary display and a quad-core processor. Also included are dual rear-facing cameras and a single front-facing camera. Peruse this eWEEK slide show for more details about the new LG V20 handset

I guess I'll never be a phonoholic. $800+ for a smartphone? $500, or even $200 is at least double than what I'd spend for a phone. I'm so glad that I've missed out in this revolution & hope that I stay that way for a while yet. I don't think that my neck could handle the constant looking at a phone & my eyes would fall out.

I have one but not that expensive, and I only use it for

1. separated from my Nurse - medical reasons. I can call her - or her me, only reason for the phone part.

2. have data so to watch storms in my area.

2a. power goes off no way to watch for Tornadoes or such.

2b. Smart phone has 4 different Weather Apps.

How about the Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime it's about $148.99 here with free shipping (from china) to everywhere.....

and btw, LG V20 is a prime device and cost as such

17 October 2016

T-Mobile and AT&T have already been accepting pre-orders for the LG V20 while Sprint has yet to start orders for the new LG handset until October 21. All three of these carriers are going to release the V20 on October 28.

It looks like Verizon is shooting higher than the other carriers by offering the LG V20 officially starting on this Thursday October 20 with in-store activations starting on October 27. As far as pricing goes, Verizon still has no information about how much it will retail at full-price, but we can expect it to be anywhere from $769 to $799 in total.

The LG V20 is one of the phones many have considered an alternative to the Galaxy Note7. And for those who are still figuring out what phone they need to switch to, customers can get a hold of the LG V20 just a few days earlier than anyone else.

The LG V20 is the company’s newest offering with a large 5.7 inch QHD IPD LCD screen, 16MP main camera with 8MP wide-angle camera, while the front facing camera also features a wide-angle mode. It runs on a Snapdragon 820 CPU paired with 4GB of RAM, and powered by a 3,200mAh removable battery.

While in the States, I stop by Best Buy and other similar stores.  They usually have last year's models refurbished  with full guarantees.  I got a iPad 2 Air  wifi 16gb Gold for my collection - $235 with $100 credit for my old iPad 2 wifi trade in.  I hope by the end of January a  new Pixel 7" tablet will have been out, I'll trade in my Nexus 7 for a refurbished one while visiting family.  At least I'll always be running the latest operating systems for my testing job.
