It'd be swell though if you could add pros and cons. I'm with classic start menu, which is nifty, but freezes and crashes sometimes on win 8 64.

I am using Windows 8 right now, and it already has the best start menu I have ever used, and/or seen...ever!

p.s.  It used to be called Metro.  I would suggest that there are many people who are unaware of its full capabilities.

Windows 8 Start Screen(Metro) is ok if you have touch capabilities but useless for those of us that don't.  I paid the $4.99 to Stardock and got the Start button app.  A fair price. :occasion14:

As an addendum to my previous post I do NOT have a touch screen, and Metro is still the best!

+1

Once you customise the "Start Screen" to your requirements I honestly think it's far quicker & Better than the old "Start Button"

For me Win 8 are no more than destroyed Win 7. A OS shall be an OS, not more or less.
OS is a base to be able to install user chosen progam and use them in a good manner. Hope MS are back on track with Win 9. I went back to Win 7 and will stay on it to Win 9 are comming as better OS hopefully. If not Linux will be the next solution for me.
My history with MS are Win 3.1/Win 95/Win 98/Win XP/Win Vista/Win 7 so Win 8 and back to Win 7.

My history with MS are DOS 1-6, Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98, OS2, Win XP, Win Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1.
I'm liking 8.1. I deleted everthing on the startup screen except the desktop Icon. Put the control panel and task manager on the taskbar. Starting to get all of the hidden command locations memmerized and its just another OS. I like the speed and so far no driver problems. So whats are the compliants all about. Just dump the eye candy and work as always.

Works fine on all versions of W8.1 up to date.

I like that I can go over to the very left edge where the Start Button is and still right click M& Menu vs the Classic Shell menu settings.
