Choice and flexibility are the hallmarks of the Linux ecosystem. In Windows and OS X, if you don't like some aspects of the operating system, there's not much you can do about it.

Not so in the Linux world, where thanks to the numerous distributions you are in fact spoilt for choice. Each distro has the Linux kernel at its core, but builds on top of that with their own selection of other components, depending on the target audience for the distro.

Different distros offer different customisation options, so you can fiddle around with the distro and customise it as per your taste and preferences until you get the kind of thing you're looking for. So no matter what sort of user you are, there's a distro for you.

LOL, those are for Linux-Freaks-only....  :histerija:

I'm happy that NetRunner is mentioned on the list - but it should have a much higher rating...

Freak as "a person with huge deep knowledge and passion" for Linux - that's what I meant.

Good to see Slackware and its derivatives rated so highly even after all these years!

Downloaded Kali and Backtrack and even have the CBT Nuggets training for those, will have to give it a look over the next few weeks like a bit of hacking! Ethical Hacking of course!! ;) ;)

The bad thing for Linux is, there are too many folks with a lack of patience or knowledge. It is a joke for those that may be concerned... Sort of!  Personally I'd rather deal with a Linux build any day than a MS dog-pile if the same variety of software was available for both. It's getting better for Linux, but takes time since it has volunteers instead of moneygrubbers.
